Final Report of VFX course
Installation of Davinci resolve 19:
Firstly I went to Marvel UVCE website , in VFX course section I clicked the link which guided to blackmagicdesign website where I downloaded free version of Davinci resolve 19.Then I installed it in my pc.When I opened it ,it showed a tab to create new project.Here I saw many tools which I will be explaining in next part.
Introduction to tabs and tools of Davinci Resolve 19:
1.Mediapool : In this page ,you will get a option called ‘Import media' where you can import one file or full folder to the master tab .
2.Timeline : Here you can drag media files and you can arrange in a order you like.If you press only alt+t you can bring only video file to timeline .ctrl+b is used to cut the specific clip in the video .To delete a ripple press spacecase. You can also remove audio from the video and add another audio of your choice to that clip .
3.Preferences : It is the choice of you to store the video in storage media.
4.Keyboard customisation: You can customise some shortcuts so that you can save some time.You can set a specific shortcut to one specific task.If you change any shortcuts in this menu the you should press save to save it.
5.Inspector: In this tab, you will be able to make many operations on video like
*Transform: where you will be able to change x and y axis of the video clip.
*Cropping: You will be able to crop the video clip.
*Dynamic zoom: You will be able zoom the video with transistion like ease in,ease out ,ease in and out.
*Scaling: To make the video fit or fil whole screen in this setting.
*Speed of clip: You can change the speed of clip either fast or slow according to your need.
*Zoom in and zoom out according to your need.
You can also make many operations on audio like only hearing on left side or right side or center.
You can also make changes in transitions.
6)Preview bar: Where you can view the video in this bar which will help you while editing .
Effects:
1.Video transistions: Many transistions can be applied to the clip while moving from one clip to another or in the starting of the clip.There are many types of transistions which can be viewed in preview bar first before applying it to the timeline.
2.Audio transistions:. Effects can be made like echo and others on the audio.
3.Titles : They are very useful as we can write something on the video by just dragging a title effect of our choice to the timeline.
Task 1: Edit page
Assignment 1:To edit a video using basic transitions and triming.
I took a movie named Mukunda murari ,I cut small clips from this movie which was good and joined the clips and I added video transistions like additive resolve and other in between of two clips.At the last I added a Title generator which specified my name and the movie name.I removed every audio from the clip and added a new audio in it.I was able to rearrange clips and add photos also at the first.So it was a great experience of editing.
Task 2: Cut page:
Assignment 2: Create a short video of storytelling.
I took a recent movie named Bhageera which had a story where police officer fed up corrupt police system chooses to punish every criminal by himself.I made small-small clips of every sequence of transforming himself into bhageera and added video transistions in between and made some changes in video like dynamic zoom and zoom in and cropping and speed change in inspector panel and added a audiotrack which will suit the video .
INTRODUCTION TO FAIRLIGHT PAGE:
Fairlight page is mainly used for audio editing. We can add multi audios and will be able to make some changes to it like syncing audios,removing distortions,noise reduction etc..,Firstly you have to import audios to mediapool.And then bring it to the timeline.
Let us learn one by one:
1)Syncing audios:To sync two audios,select two audios,right click on that,press auto align and select ‘waveforms’ and sync.
2)Remove distortions and noise reductions :This can be done by using plugins that is ‘Fairlight fx’ **.**Noise can be reduced for a greater extent in AU plugin.For using plugins go to ‘Effects’ –‘restoration’-‘Fairlight fx’-‘Noise reduction’
3)For voice over for any type of videos we can record there itself .
4)For delaying the audio we can use ‘Delay’ option.
5)For echo effect of audio you can use ‘Echo’ option.
6)Equalizer-You can make use of this for increasing the base of voice or making the voice** pitch little thinner .We can make changes in the pitch of voice with this option.
7)There are two types in audios,they are , one is mono, and other one is stereo.
If you need audio to listen through one side the you will be using ‘Pan’ setting in inspector panel where you can make your audio to listen through left or right by shifting the icon to either** left or right ,this is called ‘mono’.
If you need to listen the audio from both the sides at equal volume,then you will set the icon to middle in ‘Pan’ setting in inpector panel.
8)Reverb:It gives a special echo effect to the audio which makes you feel that it is said in a large hall.
9)Dehumming and de-essing method.
Task:To make audio effects in a video:
Here I have edited ‘Mission Mangal’ movie and I have added background music of ‘Lady gaga’.Whenever there is a dialogue background music becomes less.In this I have used ‘ducker’ for doing this.
Deliver:
In this tab you will be able to export the edited video to your storage media.Here you have to specify name of the video and select the storage area and select the quality of video and click Render in queue.After this in the right side of the tab ,you have to click Render all which will save the video to specified storage area.
Thus this is the experience of editing in Davinci resolve which was very amazing.
