IntelliVent

Smart CO Detection and Ventilation System

IntelliVent is a smart and affordable carbon monoxide (CO) detection and ventilation
system designed to prevent CO poisoning in enclosed spaces such as bathrooms,
kitchens, garages, or small rooms. It continuously monitors CO concentration in the air
and automatically activates ventilation when harmful levels are detected.

  • Real-time CO Monitoring: Uses the MQ-9 gas sensor to detect CO concentration levels.
  • Smart Processing: Arduino UNO R3 acts as the central controller, converting sensor data into ppm values.
  • Dynamic Alerts:

  • Automatic Ventilation: Controls an exhaust fan via an L298N motor driver, adjusting speed based on CO concentration.

βš™οΈ Working Principle

The MQ-9 gas sensor’s resistance (Rs) changes with varying CO concentration.
The Arduino reads this analog variation, calculates CO levels in ppm using a calibration formula, and triggers suitable actions such as:

  • Displaying air quality on OLED display
  • Activating/cycling exhaust fan
  • Alerting users with LEDs and buzzer
