REPORT ON VIRTUAL REALITY

Virtual reality (VR) is a technology that creates simulated environment that employs 3D near-eye displays and pose tracking to give the user an immersive feel of a virtual world in real time.

Hardware and software using VR to create 3D environment: HARDWARE: VR headsets, 3D cameras, hand trackers etc. SOFTWARE: Computer programs that create virtual environment like VirtualBox, VMware Player etc.

VR vs AR

VIRTUAL REALITYAUGMENTED REALITY
It creates a fully immersive digital environment or experience that simulates the real world or imaginary worldIt overlays digital information into the real world
It does not integrate real time dataIt integrates real time data
It generally requires a headset or a similar kind of device to immerse the user into the digital worldIt can be accomplished through smartphones or tablets with the help of AR apps
It requires powerful hardware and software to create a realistic experienceIt requires relatively simple technology for the creation
It uses physical controls exclusivelyIt doesn’t use physical control exclusively
Examples: PlayStation VR, Samsung Gear VR, and HTC ViveExamples: Pokemon GO, Google Maps AR, and IKEA App

Virtual reality (VR) is expected to have many applications in space and technology, including:

  • Space exploration: VR can be used for space experimentation, upgrades, safety training, and grasp training. It can also improve mission planning, flight and ground operations simulation, and collaborative engineering tasks. Examples:

    • Earthlight VR: The collaboration between the National Aeronautics and Space Administration (NASA) and Melbourne-based Opaque Media Group (OMG) has led to the development of Earthlight, a virtual reality space-walk experience that uses high end VR headsets and hand-based controllers. pic4

    • ADR1FT space game pic5

    • Titans of Space: An hour-long narrated tour introduces you to the virtual planetarium, showcasing the beauty and vastness of the Solar System through its realistic visuals of planets and other celestial bodies such as moons and asteroids, with their corresponding names and size measurements. pic6 And much more…

  • Social interaction: VR platforms allow users to interact in real time with digital avatars, which can be used for socializing, networking, and community building.

  • Training: VR can be used to train employees by simulating realistic working conditions. For example, VR can be used to train people for high-risk operations, such as working with the human body or complex equipment.

  • Healthcare: VR is expected to have increasing applications in healthcare.

  • Education: VR can be used to transform immersive education. According to PWC, VR trainees absorb knowledge four times more quickly than classroom learners.

  • Remote assistance: VR can be used for remote assistance and collaboration.

INDIAN COMPANIES USING VR

  • Immerse VR is a virtual reality (VR) company founded in 2020 with the goal of making virtual reality more accessible and engaging for everyone. Through their content, users can explore various places around the world or even venture into outer space through virtual reality. They also offer educational content that enables people to learn about different topics in an engaging way. It also works with partners to create unique experiences for different markets. For example, they have partnered with museums to create virtual tours of their exhibits and with universities to create virtual classrooms. It uses cutting-edge technology to create realistic and immersive experiences, which includes photogrammetry, which captures real-world environments in high detail; volumetric video, which captures moving footage of 3D environments; and spatial audio, which adds realistic sound to the experience.

  • Metaverse VR Company is a cutting-edge virtual reality development studio based in Silicon Valley. Founded in 2021, the company strives to create immersive and interactive virtual worlds for a variety of applications, ranging from gaming and entertainment to education and business. The team utilizes the latest advances in graphics, game design, and user experience to allow users to explore, socialize, and learn in a realistic virtual environment.

  • ZebVR is a leading technology company founded 2021 that develops innovative solutions and products to improve the lives of its users. It’s home automation system allows users to customize their living environment, providing them with smart home controls such as thermostats and lighting fixtures. They also offer security and surveillance systems, including doorbells, cameras and motion sensors. Through these systems, users can easily monitor and control their living space. In addition, Zebvr has developed a suite of wearable tech devices. These include smartwatches, fitness trackers, heart rate monitors and sleep-tracking systems. All these devices are designed to be user-friendly, helping users track their health and wellness goals. It also offers a variety of software applications for both home automation and personal health monitoring.
